Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!

Hello everyone! Here is another snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, book one in my Urban Fantasy series titled The Liminals. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you’ll be among the first to know when it releases. Thanks a bundle!

Also, if you’d like to be added to the list to get an ARC, please let me know! I’m looking for reviewers to add to my list, and I’ll be sending out pre-proofed copies by August.

So anyway, here’s a scene between Meri, Orias and now Kobol. Orias has had a vision triggered, and Meri doesn’t know what to do with herself. Enjoy!

Meri remained in the room and watched awestruck as the miasma expanded and clung to the mirrors, rolling down like smoke over a river where the images formed and glided. The images took color and shape and Orias faced them down, like some grand composer over a play. Meri somehow knew she only watched where he delved deeply.

Kobol skidded into the room. “C’mon, Meri, we need to leave him to work out his vision in peace,” he whispered, grabbing her by the arm. Meri allowed him to drag her out, mesmerized by the forms taking shape in Orias’ mirrors.

That’s all I can give you with Six. ;) Again, you’ll get more to this scene next week, minus some spoilers. ;)

Please head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors. Cheers!

So anyway, here’s a tense scene between Meri and Orias. Orias has just had a vision triggered, and Meri doesn’t know what to do. Enjoy!

Orias crouched in apparent pain, silently clutching his hands to his head, while a dark miasma shrouded his form, roiling all around him . “Orias? Are you all right?” Meri asked. He didn’t answer and an uneasy sensation formed in Meri’s gut as the room chilled. Soon she could even see the breath in front of her face.

Meri ran to the door and threw it open. “Kobol, Belial, come quick! Something’s happening to Orias!”

Sorry that’s all I can give you with Six. ;) I’ll have to finish out the scene next week. ;)

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!

I’ve skipped ahead to a scene between Meri and Kobol. Kobol is a colorful member of Azimuth’s cabal who is a prime fighter with some unique skills. Enjoy!

“What are you trying to do, kill me?” Meri screeched in frustration at Kobol.

He reappeared out of thin air. “I’m not the only daemon who can do this. Besides, you’ll heal faster than you realize,” Kobol replied.

“Somehow when you said we’d be training in hand to hand combat I thought I’d be able to see my opponent!” she replied, rubbing her wrists gingerly.

“These are the same moves, but now you have to anticipate them by my energy signature.”

Welcome to hand-to-hand combat training with Kobol! ;)

I’ve skipped ahead in this scene to a moment between Meri, Azimuth and Orias. Orias is a member of Azimuth’s cabal who has the second sight, daemon style. Imagine having him around! Enjoy!

It was lucky he kept his counsel largely to himself or he’d end up with a good ass-kicking on a regular basis.

Orias turned, tapped a finger to his temple, and smiled. So she was right on that count? Meri flipped him off anyway. At that moment Azimuth walked in the front door, witnessed their exchange, and frowned.

“I can see Meri’s been a joy for you to work with,” Azimuth said to Orias.

Hmm, it’s so nice to see Orias and Meri bonding.

Hello everyone! Here is another snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, book one in my Urban Fantasy series titled The Liminals. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you’ll be among the first to know when it releases. Thanks a bundle!

This six continues from last week’s, where Meri (Meriwether) Storm has taken a turn down a dark alley and ran into some unsavory characters and then handled their ringleader. I have to say I’ve skipped a spoiler and jumped ahead a tad. Enjoy!

A moment later a hand was on her shoulder and pleasure swept through her body. Everything calmed, and the warring internal factions called a truce. Meri opened her eyes and realized she’d balled up on the ground in the alley with Azimuth crouched over her protectively, calming her with his touch. Meri frowned. Damn him and the power he held over her.

“I heard your call, and I see you’ve gotten yourself into a bit of trouble ,” Azimuth said.

Hmm, what trouble? Oh yeah, that was the spoiler! And yet, Azimuth rushes in to save her afterwards. I’m sure his motivations are entirely altruistic!

He grabbed for her by the upper arm, thinking to rein her in, but instead his skin sizzled on contact. When he tried to pull away, Meri grabbed his wrist.

“I thought you wanted to dance a while?” Meri smelled his skin burn while she stared him down. To his credit he didn’t flinch, clearly not wanting to display weakness in front of his men. When Meri finally released him she followed through with a punch to his abs, and to her surprise, he flew back a good eight feet and landed on his ass on the pavement.

It’s not quite a five-finger death punch, but it’ll do. ;)

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!

Hello everyone! Here is another snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, my Urban Fantasy WIP from my Liminals series. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you can be the first to know when it releases this summer. Thanks!

In this six Meri (Meriwether) Storm has taken a turn down a dark alley and run into some unsavory characters. Let’s see how she handles herself. Enjoy!

Meri wasn’t in the least afraid of the men or her dramatic temperature increase. Instead, she wanted to dance with these boys, just not the dance they were looking for. The idea of intimacy with them made her ill, but the more they challenged her, the more she ached for a fight.

“You think you can take me? I think I’m a little too hot for you to handle,” she replied. A heat wave blew off Meri, knocking two of the ringleader’s men to the ground.

I wonder what she’s got in store for the ringleader of this little gang?

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!

Hello everyone! I took a break from Six Sunday last week but am happy to rejoin you all with this week’s snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, my Urban Fantasy WIP from my Liminals series. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you can be the first to know when it releases this summer. Thanks!

In this six Meri (Meriwether) Storm seeks out her confidant Annamie’s advice after the job she’s done for Azimuth’s cabal. Oh, by the way, Annamie is a powerful psychic. Enjoy!

Annamie stood with her arms crossed, looking every part the angry mother who’d caught Meri with her hand in the cookie jar. “What have you gone and done to yourself this time, girl?” she tsked.

“I made a bad deal, evidently,” Meri answered.

“You think?” Annamie spat at the pavement. “Was it worth it to you?”

“You’re the one who insisted my fate required I take the next job, Annamie, and now I’ll have my parents killer on a platter as payment,” Meri shrugged.

Hmm, Meri and Annamie have been close for years. Let’s hope they work this one out.

Please head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors. Cheers! :)

Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!

Here’s this week’s snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, my Urban Fantasy WIP from my Liminals series. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you can be the first to know when it releases this summer. Thanks!

In this six Meri (Meriwether) Storm has completed the job for Azimuth’s cabal and it’s left her with some unexpected side effects. This is a bit of a continuation from last week’s scene. Enjoy!

“You know what Makhra said while I was killing him? He said I should kill you next for not warning me of the consequences. You see I think he’d taken a liking to me, even despite the whole assassination thing. And now I’m standing here wondering, why the hell should I trust you?”

Azimuth watched her with murderous eyes, but he didn’t answer.

Meri thought about staying and demanding her payment, but between Azimuth’s mood and her body’s odd after effects from the summoning, she needed time to think, time without his gaze boring through her.

Meri’s finding out trusting daemons is a tricky game to play!

In this six Meri (Meriwether) Storm has completed the job for Azimuth’s cabal and it’s left her with some unexpected side effects. Enjoy!

A wave of heat and anxiety rolled off of her, blowing Azimuth’s hair back and rolling knocked over candles around on the floor. “What the hell was that, Azimuth? Did I do that? No, wait–how did I do that?”

“Like I said, we should be going,” Azimuth replied, his stormy expression bordering on anger.

“I don’t feel like going to Sheol right now, Az, I’m going home.”

What do you think? Will the price for Meri’s vengeance be worth it?
