Welcome to Six Sentence Sunday!
Here’s this week’s snippet from The Daemon Whisperer, my Urban Fantasy WIP from my Liminals series. If you use Goodreads please consider adding this to your to-read list so you can be the first to know when it releases this summer. Thanks!
In this six Meri (Meriwether) Storm has completed the job for Azimuth’s cabal and it’s left her with some unexpected side effects. Enjoy!
A wave of heat and anxiety rolled off of her, blowing Azimuth’s hair back and rolling knocked over candles around on the floor. “What the hell was that, Azimuth? Did I do that? No, wait–how did I do that?”
“Like I said, we should be going,” Azimuth replied, his stormy expression bordering on anger.
“I don’t feel like going to Sheol right now, Az, I’m going home.”
What do you think? Will the price for Meri’s vengeance be worth it?
Please head on over to Six Sunday and check out the other participating authors. Cheers! 🙂
Oooh interesting! The plot thickens as this hints that she has some kind of power she isn’t aware of, but that Az wants to keep her ignorant of. And he’s in quite a hurry to get her to Sheol! Loved the description of how it rolled off her, very visual… This definitely promises more conflict…
Yes, you have to wonder what she’s got going on there, and you have to wonder when and if Az is going to clue her in! Thanks Angela! 🙂
Nice details! And I like that she calls him “Az”. ;D
Hmm, yes! Whatever could that imply? 😉 Thanks Steven!
An intriguing six. 🙂
Intriguing six, Candice. Very curious about her powers! Love how she is also surprised by them. Nicely done!
Oh, she’s surprised all right! 🙂 Thanks Ursula!
Getting very interesting. You seem to be developing a complex plot here. Are you a plotter or a pantser?
Well Cara, I start off with a loose plot, and then I roll with it panster style. I’m something of a hybrid that way. 😉
I love your description in that first line. I can feel and see it. Very intriguing… sounds like there are some interesting times ahead for Meri, and perhaps for Azimuth too.
Thanks Lorraine. I like to think the story just gets rolling at this juncture. 😉
Great six. I felt the remnant power that was unleashed. 🙂
Great intensity here, Candice. Meri’s strength comes through as we see her stand up to Az and as the plot thickens.
Thanks Ryan! Meri’s soles are beginning to wear thin, thanks to Az. 🙂
Hmm I wonder what dormant power was unlocked. Interesting…
Unfortunately for Meri, this one wasn’t dormant…more like foisted upon. 😉 Thanks!
You had me with the first sentence. Great six!
Thanks Sarah!
Yes, how did she do that?! Suspenseful. The snippet makes me want to continue reading.I like your use of heat and anxiety to describe!
Many thanks! I bet she’ll work it out, sooner or later. 😉
